It was an absolute honor to give this year’s keynote address at the New Music Gathering – an amazing conference organized by leaders on the contemporary classical community. This year’s conference theme is local action, and I’m no expert, but I do know that when I care about something, I do it, which has led some some beautiful ways of engaging in advocacy and activism through my artistic work. This was my first keynote address ever, and I’m grateful to have had the space and time to speak from my heart during this particular moment of national consciousness.
