Last week, I got an interesting request from the Civic Orchestra of Chicago to help celebrate their 100th Anniversary on March 29, 2020. The orchestra had remotely recorded Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony (which was also played at their inaugural concert), then wanted to commission seven composers to take those recordings and create something of their own. The end result: Glitch Oasis – a fun and quirky piece that I wrote as a reflection of our current state digitally isolated state amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Watch my intro video explaining the work, and hear the piece below. Happy 100th, Civic Orchestra!
